Festival Puccini is based in Torre del Lago Puccini on the shores of Massaciuccoli Lake, in Northern Tuscany. Torre del Lago, which belongs to the Town of Viareggio, is about 80 km far from Florence, 25 km far from Lucca and only 30 minutes from Pisa international airport. From 2008 the performances will take place in a 3,370seat New Open-air Theatre, just a stone’s throw from Villa Puccini, where the composer lived, worked and is buried.
Puccini operas were first performed here in 1930 following the Maestro's wishes. Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago is the only Opera Festival in the world entirely dedicated to the works of Maestro Giacomo Puccini.
